First off, anytime you have problems with only one location, there's usually nothing wrong with your machine. You need to make sure that you or your fax machine is dialing the right phone number AND that phone number is being answered by their fax machine. You can test by dialing manually using a handset. Listen to see if a fax machine answers (high pitch tone). If not, check to make sure that you have the right phone number. Note - don't trust that the number you see printed on a cover sheet or listed on your transaction report is the actual telephone number of the sender's fax machine. Cover sheets are sometimes outdated and the numbers programmed in the machine may not be right. The machine may have been moved or the phone number changed.
Once you have dialed a fax number the receiving fax machine sends its number to your fax. That is the number that your machine now displays. This is the number that the other machine has programmed into it by the user. If the number is entered wrong or if the phone number has been changed and the machine has not been reprogrammed, then the number will not appear the same as the number that you dialed.
Yes. ABM will provide like equipment free of charge if it is determined that an “In Shop” repair would cause less disruption. Service and supplies will be billed at the current maintenance rate per your contract.
Some copiers have a 'size selector' on the drawer itself that needs to be moved to the proper size setting. Other machines need to have the paper size set in the 'User Mode'. Consult your user manual for detailed instructions.
Nothing. In order to be 'Energy Star Compliant' (government mandated) most machines come set to shut themselves off or go into a Standby Condition after a few minutes. With the short warm-up times on these newer machines this is usually not a big inconvenience. These times can be adjusted by your Service Technician. Ask him/her to adjust the timer on their next visit.
Toner yields on all copier brands are based on your copies having about 6% coverage of image. This would be a short, simple business letter or a 2" square of solid black. If you copy very full pages, heavy black logos and/or images, or run copies with the lid open your actual yield will drop dramatically.
Yes. Please check with your salesperson concerning any length of time or limitations based on the model you are considering.
Your fax machine is basically like your home telephone. It needs a working phone line and it needs to be in an 'Auto-Answer' mode. If you can send OK then the phone line is probably OK. If you can't send or receive then the phone line might be dead. Listen for dial-tone on the handset if you have one or plug a standard telephone into the jack and test making and receiving calls. If you can't make or receive calls with a standard phone, your fax machine will never work. If the machine won't answer an incoming call, check to make sure it is set to 'Auto Answer' - consult your manual.
The sending fax machine probably had a tough time feeding the original.
The glass plate that the originals go over is probably dirty. Open the document feeder and try cleaning the glass with glass cleaner. You can test it by using your machine to make a copy. If the streaks go away, you fixed it. Send yourself a bill!
